How to turn prayers into plans

You have an inspiration. An idea so exciting and so juicy that it wakes you up in the middle of the night. All day it runs through your mind, you feel the excitement of it in your veins. Maybe it’s a new course to offer or an idea for a book. Maybe you wake up hearing the beats or lyrics to a song in your mind. Whatever it is, it lights your soul on fire and brings a skip to your step.

The message feels like a divine download from the Universe and you know that big things are about to happen in your life. Hunkering down, you wait to receive the next message. Cause that’s what’s supposed to happen right? First comes the idea, then you wait for directions on what to do next. Keep your eyes peeled for signs and when the time is right, you will know.

Anyone else get caught in this dream cycle? It can’t just be me! For almost a decade, this is how I lived my life. Inspiration after inspiration, idea after idea, yet nothing in my life was shifting or changing. It felt as though I was standing at the edge of greatness, I could feel the tension building, like a champagne cork just waiting to pop. But nothing happened. Knowing I was meant for big things, but my reality stayed the same.

What’s the secret sauce of co-creating with Source? How did I go from being the ideas girl to a three-time international bestselling author? I made one small shift to the equation and everything changed. Instead of waiting for God to send me the next message, I took inspired action.

Here’s the real deal, no fluff, I’m dropping the straight-up truth bomb of all truth bombs. NOTHING is going to happen in your life if you stand at the start line waiting for someone else to run your race for you, even God.

The fact is, we are so used to being comfortable that we can get lost in ideas, planning, researching, and asking others what they would do. Focusing on planning so much that we stall every inspiration that we have. Sometimes we even become “sign whores”, not taking action until we see a sign, and when we do get one, we don’t feel it’s big enough, and ask for another, and another, and another. All of this forces us to stay the same, knowing that we want more, but doing nothing to actually make it happen.

In order to create a change in your life that makes an impact, you need to be willing to take inspired action on what you receive from Source. You need to be willing to get uncomfortable, doing things you have never done before. Just yesterday on a call with my clients, we talked about getting excited about the things that feel puke worthy.

The idea is only the first step. Making a plan and executing it is truly the game-changer in what your current reality is mirroring back to you. Do you want to know the real kicker? When you actually do start running your own race, getting vulnerable, doing things you have never done before, failing forward, the Universe brings bigger and bigger things your way. That’s the way energy works. As a friend of mine said the other day, for every step you take forward, God takes three.

It’s a partnership, a co-creative relationship where both parties are showing up and doing the work. That’s how three books actually got written. The idea and inspiration was received, I got extremely uncomfortable, resisted like crazy, and then stepped into a part of myself that I did not know was available to me. You have this part too!

To break it down, it looks like this.

  1. Receive idea

  2. Make a plan

  3. Get uncomfortable

  4. Do the thing

  5. Trust in Source energy

If you can keep it this simple and be willing to do things you have never done before, everything you believe to be true about your life has the potential to shift.

The next time you reach that uncomfortable place, do what you’ve never done before. Instead of shying away, lean IN. Settle into the unknown and the answers will come. It works so well, it’s almost like magic. Oh wait...It is. ;)
